The Procurement Department is one of the departments in Central Administration with units in the six teaching colleges, Central Administration and Student Welfare Authority. This then constitutes the eight procurement colleges of the University of Nairobi.
The department is one of the fastest growing division of the university. It started with two members of staff in 2003. It now has a staffing of over forty most of who are professionals in procurement or pursuing professional courses and higher degrees.
The department is headed by a Procurement Manager whose career in the area spans over three decades. The department has four Deputy Procurement Managers: one in charge of the Central Administration Procurement College and the other three are in charge of the Student Welfare Authority, College of Health Sciences and Tender Secretariat respectively.
The Department wishes to announce that, it is currently undergoing fundamental restructuring in order to conform to the tenets and spirit of the New Constitution, 2010 and the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015. The restructuring will also enable the department to effectively and positively contribute to the University Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan 2013-2018.
To be the main contributor in transforming the University into World Class Status through use and application of modern Procurement Principles and practices that will assure continuous flow of materials and services so that university operations are not interrupted. The department will also assure value for money.
To provide user departments,suppliers and stakeholders services that meet world class standards; to assist the University meet and surpass targets of its core funtions of teaching and research as well as its Startegic Objectives.
